The Royal Copenhagen Company began producing fine porcelain in 1775 and is famed for its beautiful, highly collectible Christmas plates. Since 1908, Royal Copenhagen have hand painted their annual Christmas plate, inspired by the Danish tradition whereby wealthy families would present their servants with sugary treats, such as cookies and candies, on a decorative 'Christmas plate'. Every year since, the Christmas plate has been produced for that calendar year only, and afterwards the mould is destroyed to ensure the historic tradition is maintained. The plates are spectacularly painted in Royal Blue and each one captures a unique slice of cultural history specific to the time and place. Each plate is hand signed by the artist and of course all pieces are eligible for our luxury gift wrapping service and free UK delivery.
